Use caution with perfumes and some medication that is not suitable for sun exposure. Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
KNOW YOUR PERSONAL LIMITS in the sun. Don’t stay on the beach for hours on end.
Apply a replenishing after sun product after sun exposure to relieve and comfort the skin.
SPF (Sunburn Protection Factor) refers to the level of protection a product gives you against UVB rays. In French, you may see other acronyms used on packaging, such as IP (Indice de Protection) or FPS (Facteur de Protection Solaire).
Protecting yourself with a high SPF will not affect how much you tan. Sun care products are essential in protecting the skin against the harmful effects of UV rays. However, the higher the SPF number, the more protected the skin: with a high SPF cream, you will still tan, just more slowly.
Adapt your sun care routine according to the SPF (30, 50, 50+) number shown on sunblock products, which refers to the amount of time you have before your skin is damaged by the sun. With an SPF 30 sunscreen for example, skin is protected 30 times longer than if you applied no cream at all. The higher the SPF number, the more UV rays are absorbed by the product and the stronger the protection.
Contrary to popular belief, black skin is just as vulnerable to UV rays as light skin, even though it is naturally more pigmented.
Be careful, just because wet skin feels refreshing doesn't mean it isn't getting damaged by the sun's rays. Having wet skin lets 38% of harmful sunburn-causing UV rays through.
TO AVOID BURNING, Clarins after-sun care is formulated using soothing and ultra-moisturising anti-radical plant extracts.
